Hello - I am the creator of this site, and pleased to see it mentioned on this forum. I would like to add that this is a new site (3 months old) and you can search for 2nd hand disability equipment by category, keyword search, price and distance (works on postcode). There are continually more items being added as it is becoming more known about.
It is FREE to use, clear and user-friendly, as after 6 years of paralysis, I realised that expensive kit is one of the biggest bug bears of disabled, injured and elderly people. People are even giving stuff away to a good home on the site. You are in control of your own listings and we also have practical advice on protecting yourself against fraud when buying and selling.
There is lots of unused 2nd hand equipment out there that people do not know how to dispose of and it just seemed logical to put people in direct contact.
I hope I'm not breaking forum rules discussing my own site, but having seen it mentioned here, I wanted to provide more information.
Best wishes, GuyExperience is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you.0 -

Hello, Guy Harris (creator of DisabledGear.com) here. There is a listing for a MACLAREN MAJOR ELITE SPECIAL NEEDS STROLLER for £100 in Hampshire. Though no accompanying photo. So you would need to make contact with the seller direct. When you go in, you can either do a keyword search or look for it directly with Reference C162457.
You may need to go in a little later today, as there is a small glitch that is being sorted out, which (frustratingly) is preventing access to all the listings.
If you have any problems, you can always let me know through the Contact Us pages.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes

Hello. All fixed now. As I am a new user on this forum, I cannot enter a link, but it is under Classifieds >> Wheelchairs & Scooters >> Manual Wheelchairs.
Best wishes

Hello - I'd love to hear people's opinion. I'd like to make www DisabledGear.com as comprehensive as possible, but am aware that there is always a concern over buying 2nd hand stair-lifts and scooters, for example. I am hoping to link in the Disability Living Foundations factsheets (though need their permission 1st) as they are full & impartial advice and guides to buying right. But I also thought a national register of service and support engineers who can instal or maintain items bought 2nd hand - with feedback so it should be clear who to use and who to avoid - would be extremely useful. Not sure how to go about setting this up to get reliable people rather than cowboys, rather from the start, and ones who charge reasonably, bearing in mind those buying off the site are often on low incomes. Help...!Experience is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you.0

ricability also do surveys and reviews of equipment
http://www.ricability.org.uk/consumer_reports/
i think it is important to make sure people know how much maintainance will be costing over the lifetime of a piece of equipment and be aware that it is necessary to have things serviced. (like with a car)
also i think people should be made aware of what might be available free to them through their occupational therapy services at the local authority (social work)0 -

This is where information is so useful, and why I want to list impartial advice in the next set of developments.
I've just had a look to see what you are referring to and I suspect that they may have problems selling. I hope that comparisons will sort that out - so for example you can search by price, as well as distance, etc, and currently there are others available at considerably less. And as more and more people start using the free service, there will be more choice for the buyers, in the same way that if you want to sell a book on Amazon Marketplace you have to compete with all the others offering the same item.
I like constructive criticism and suggestions, as it helps me make improvements! :jExperience is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you.0 -
We are now listed in the Disability Living Foundation's updated Factsheet on Sources of Second Hand Disability Equipment.
You can find this on their website dlf.org.uk - a good organisation that is all about providing impartial information.Experience is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you.0 -
