allied carpets gone into administration - can I claim back my deposit on my flooring?

Options
ordered flooring with allied carpets last week, now I hear they have gone into administration. Is there anyway I can get my deposit back? (stupidly didn't buy on credit card)

No you cant, you will just have to hope that someone buys it as a going concern. You could try asking your bank for a 'charge back' but dont think it will work.

Friend of mine did this when the Sofa Company went bust and had 3 very stressfull weeks until she was told it was sold as a going concern so got her sofa eventually. It was nearly £1000.00

Hope this works out for you

Contact your local store but the administrators have stated that all outstanding customer orders will be fulfilled so you should still get your carpet

To be honest, administrators tend to say this sort of thing to stop panic cancellations thereby wrecking even further cash flow.

If it is in stock, I would expect that they will fulfill their contract. Don't pay the balance until the day of fitting!

Oh and pay on credit card!

If you paid by a Visa Debit Card then you should be OK. If you paid by Maestro then you're stuffed.

Does anybody think it's odd that Allied Carpets management team has set up a new company (Called Allied Carpets ) and bought the 61 more profitable stores leaving the rest in administration??

No not at all odd. It often happens, the creditors of the old company are left with their debts either unpaid or they get back something silly like a penny in the pound

Agreed, not odd at all and becoming increasingly common.

Total conflict of interest though between a management who ought to have been trying to save a company from insolvency and who then, actually, benefit from it!

True, all the more so in this case as Allied was only taken over a few months ago by Hico who are backing the new management.

I of course would not presume to imply that it is a cynical way to clear the debts and cut costs and staff !
