My leather chair is ripping

Hello. I'd like a few opinions on this situation if possible. I bought a leather "Manager's Chair" from Argos nearly 4 months ago for £100.00.
Where your bum sits, it has what you could call "leather netting" or "breathing holes" in the leather. The actions of sitting down or getting up evidently cause the leather between your buttocks to stretch, because what's happened is that the holes in the netting at the center of the chair have started to "join up" to form a rip down the middle of the chair.
So where the crack of your bum would be
, there is now a "crack" or "rip" in the chair. So far only 6 or 7 of the small holes have joined up, but as time goes on, it's definitely going to get worse. I can see that in a month or two's time, there will be a proper great rip down the middle of the chair.
I wonder, is this classed as wear and tear? I can certainly see how they can argue that it is, because the damage has obviously been caused by using the chair. If the chair had never been used it wouldn't have this problem.
On the other hand, the chair is a chair, it's designed to be used, and I have only ever used it normally. I am an ordinary sized person etc and I think it's a pretty bad design to have that leather netting where your bum is, as the holes join up to form a crack under normal use, and all within just 4 months.
You'd expect a £100 chair to last more than 4 months of ordinary use before needing a repair, right?
Do you think I should speak to Argos about it? Would I be hoping they are "nice to me" and repair it, or do I actually have any rights?
Many thanks

Well according to some on this forum ...NO you don,t have any rights ,you,re just a whinging ,free loaderI,ve been here before0 -
OP - I would say this isn't "fit for purpose" therefore it comes under the Sale of Goods Act.
I would contact Argos and let them know (politely) that you're not happy with the quality and ask what they can do about it. I think in a lot of cases, it pays to be nice to the person you speak to initially and that gets you a long way. If of course you find they are not helping you, then I would quote the sale of goods act to them.
Whatever you do, don't let them fob you off. A £100 chair should last more than 4 months. Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Sorry I did not reply to this thread at the time, but I did read the responses.
Thanks for the respondes. Just to update the thread I finally got around to taking the chair back today (within 6 months of buying it - just) and it was replaced for a new one without any arguing at all. I was quite impressed with Argos.
Now, to work out how to stop the same thing happening to this chair..0
