  • Try the Students Union! Ours is very flexible with hours as they understand that as a student, sometimes you need to go to Lecture!

Mine hires students to work at the campus shops, bars and as part of the 'Information Team' (working on reception to the actual SU buildings) - it's what I do and it means you have a bigger understanding of the organisation too, not to mention I can direct bored students towards clubs I'm part of!.

I'd assume that's similar whatever uni you go to with an SU.

Check your student union website now, I'm sure it will have dates when they start recruiting for the bar and shop staff.

I worked in an SU sport's ground for 2 years and really liked the fact that you could vary the number of shifts with your workload.

Many departments also offer work as tour guides on Open days, at mine its about £30 per Open Day and comes with a free lunch.
  • My uni had the following jobs for students on campus:

    * Working in campus bars - pay depended on the bar but fits quite well around your degree
    * Working on the door at club nights
    * Ringing up people who used to go to the university for donations
    * Working in the students' union shop
    * Working in the campus supermarket
    * Bits of admin for departmental offices or for companies on the nearby science park - very lucrative if you stayed over the vacations
    * Being a tour guide on open days

You can also make money by participating in psychology experiments, either for the uni itself or for people's research projects - it seemed to happen quite a lot at my uni - and there'll always be companies like Milkround or KPMG or Deloitte who get people to hand out leaflets on campus. But I would say your best bet to start with is the students' union website, and then failing that there should be a 'current vacancies for students'-type thing on the uni's career service website which will have the department stuff and very flexible jobs in the area - loads of hotels and little shops and places like that used to advertise on ours.
