When should I look at getting my mag? It has been years since I last took out a sub so can't remember how long it took last time. Thanks:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

computer active magazine offering 3 issues for 3p (yes, 3 pence!), AND a free USB memery stick- that came quite quickly, and just got letter confirming my subscription.. in diary to cancel in time, before it goes back up to proper price!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I took out the Psychologies yearly subscription and paid for it at the beginning. Then I noticed a direct debit going out of my account for £14.40 for HACHETE FILIPACHI, I rang them and was told that the direct debit keep coming out of your account unless you specifically cancel it. And to make matters worse the customer services girl told me that 'You would have been informed of this when you took out the subscription and they would have written to you' - I did not receive anything of the sort, and I wasn't told either.
The best way to sort this out:
- cancel direct debit with them, from their end by calling them (01858 438 853) Apparantly they will write to you to confirm that it has been cancelled
- cancel direct debit with your own bank
- write to them asking for a refund quoting your subscription number (which if you don't have they will give you by calling the above number)
:money: Good luck, and make sure you always check your bank statements!!0 -

They are obviously going to keep taking out the payments until you cancel the order - they're not psychic!!!!!! I have usually received a letter confirming the order and the date the direct debits will be taken and for how much.
I use online banking and check the direct debits every time I log on. I've never contacted the publishing company and only ever cancelled through online banking.0 -
Hoping someone can help, as far as I'm aware I currently have no magazine subscriptions with HAYMARKET but having looked at my bank account online I have had a payment go out for £14.95 yesterday. I have spoken to my bank who said they can't reclaim the money back I have to ask the company for it, is that right? I thought it would be covered under the Direct Debit Guarantee but the bank have said no - I'm almost 100% certain I don't have anything with this company. I have tried calling them but aparently they can't help but are going to get someone to give me a ring back. What else can I do? I have a payment went out to them for £1 in Aug last year, the bank have confirmed this was cancelled soon after but it's a new reference number with this payment compared to that one.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please0

Why did the bank say it was not covered by the direct debit guarantee?
Here's a link to some info about the direct debit guarantee - I would get back in touch with the bank and get them to clarify why it is not
covered.

keep ringing Haymarket or try e-mailing them.
Do you have any magazine subs at the moment? sometimes I've had mags I've had before with diff publishers.
It certainly seems to me(but what do I know) a case for arguing the dd guarantee0
