Buyer trying it on?

Sold an electrical item on 3rd July, just had this e-mail from buyer -

"Just got around to wiring this up and unfortunately, it is burnt out and not working which is a shame as I was looking forward to having it in place. I have done plenty of these before, so I know that I wired it properly. Can you arrange a refund please ?"

I know the item was working when I sent it.

Next steps?

This is always a diffuclt one as you have no way of knowing whether buyer damaged it themselves.

However, all youc an really do is the standard asking them to return it tracked at their own expense and then refunding. Paypal will almost certainly side with them if they go there of course.

As Soolin says ask them to return it. Do not get into an argument at this stage. Just apologise and tell them you will check it over and refund upon return.

Once you get it back you can then check it over and decide what action to take. To repeat do not get argumentative until you receive it back.

From what your thread says is there anyway rhis can be "wired" incorrectly?
