I'm looking to buy pc speakers, possibly 2.1, and have am looking at spending less than £50. I want them for music and games. As I've put earlier i could do with a subwoofer, but don't really want a 5.1 surround sound system. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The April 2006 issue of Computer Shopper did a review of 2.1 and 5.1 computer speakers. The Logitech X-230 2.1 speakers came out as Best Budget Buy. I've just bought them on Amazon for £24 (free delivery) and they are excellent. Very good quality sound and the subwoofer is great. Can thoroughly recommend them. Discovered you can plug an mp3 player into them as well using the headphone socket. May need to buy a second set of these speakers!0

Go for creative speakers they are the best around and can get cheap. Try ebay. Second hand is not bad way to go to, as you can get some stunning speakers for less than half price.Kind Regards

May I recommend these?
(you may find them cheaper elsewhere)
I have these and they are very good - the sub's very punchy - I've had to turn it down to stop annoying my neighbours!
My only criticism is the wired remote, but that sits in its cradle beside my monitor and doesn't really prove too much of a problem.0 -

Personally I think these are a great buy:- Logitech X 230 from Amazon for £24. I have compared them to a few and these are superb. There are also some good reviews around try ZDNET Review. or PlayList or PCPro or Consumersearch
Or if you really want to splash out these Logitech Z-2300 at £86 are described as spectacular!!
Hope you find this of some help.0
