Can anyone tell me roughly how many songs I could get on a 125mb MP3 player??
Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

I would reckon on about 30...I just had a quick check on my mp3 file sizes.0

thanks.so how do you get 10 000 on an ipod??Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

size depends on the bit-rate (quality) you burn at
I burn at 192kbps which makes each song roughly 6MB
the 10,000 may not refer to mp3s0 -
SRA is right, I burn at 192 as well which affects the actual number of tracks, plus the size of the original recordings also obviously matters. Music from the 50s & 60s usually runs under 3 minutes so you can get more, classical on the other hand can be huge and use up your memory. I've got 1939 tracks using about 9.5Gbs which is almost a quarter of my 40 Gb player.0

Some ipods are 40gigs = 40 960 megabytes, and if the average mp3 size is 4megs (prolly 128kbps) you can get 10240 songs.0
