    Not all trials pay either.

If you are a student at uni then seek out your psychology dept as they often run strange trials. I can remember (I was a secretary at the uni) doing one where I had to eat yoghurt - thin watered down stuff and thick stuff and I think I got paid around £10. I am currently participating in some medical research but that is unpaid and for that I have had to give a phial of blood and will be giving a sample of aqueous humour.

One of the professors that I used to work for told me that he funded his whole university education by participating in medical trials but how true that was I have no idea.

I took part in one a few years ago thankfully it was all ok but it was a short weekend one, a friend of mine is just going through her screening process at the moment (won't say for where not sure if it's allowed) and if successful she is going to be testing some sort of drug for MS think it's 6 days she'll be in and gets £1395
    Winging life....

Ouch! Having an aqueous humour sample taken will not be nice!

You don't always have to do Medical Trials, I'm a panelist in the North West for consumer products and cosmetics so I've tested things like deodorants, toothpastes and shampoos. Most of the things tested are already on the market so it's not like a brand new medicine!

I've found 4-Front Research are a good company to go with in the North West, I hope this isn't spam but I've got their website for anyone who's interested!
  • Jane thanks for the info. just wanted to ask a few questions please. how often do you test products for them? how much do you get paid? do you have to go to their location or can you do it from home? nd how long does the research take? i'd be grateful if you we're able to answer these for me please.

Hi. i was looking into taking part in medical trials to earn some money. I was wondering has anyone done it and if so what their experiences were? would anyone recommend it or should i stay clear? any advice would be appreciated please.

    Hi,

Just finished one this week actually! Got paid £80 cash for 5 hours, it was my 2nd trial in all and no problems. My trial consisted of memory tests, reaction times, personal questions, and a scan whilst undertaking tests......oh and I gave a blood sample too. The people were nice and the experience was stress free. Easy money in my opinion. Where else can you earn £16 per hour tax free cash???

Gumtree in my local area. I live in Cambridge so live near the infamous Addenbrookes Hospital where they do a lot of research.
