But they will price match each other if you ask!
Last month went to Currys to buy a MP4 and a MP3 as saw them reduced in a national paper. Went down but only the one on display in stock. The assistant told me that the local PC world had a few, according to the computer. My husband asked if the price would be the same, she said yes. But when we got to PC world, they had one of the Mp3 i was after. But wasnt the same price as in currys. The assistant didnt seem so keen to let on they they were the same company.
 I wouldnt recommend shopping at Currys or Dixsons to any one. They have little knowledge of the stock, their customer services sucks. Just interested in selling extended warrenties. So the can get profits.

The reason why none of them have a 98 or 97p at the end is because they are re-priced to that rather than discounted. ie PCW are showing the MOTO house monitor at a 57% discount to £99.99. If it was discontinued, it would just be £99.97 with no %% discount as it will never go up again.

I used to work there. If you go through the store rooms theres always something small that is never on the shelves, most of the time it is ending in 97p, this is because there central system tells them that some stores still have items in stock so they should keep reducing them until they go off of stock sheets, nobody actually thinks to find out which stores have them in stock and why the are not selling!

Thats a good point! I guess not all sale items are clearance

Thanks for the details about sky - I am now thinking about it - but suffered from a fibbing SA in the manchester arndale branch - they were telling me I had to take the whole package, sports, movies - everything to get the offer - the leaflet says you can get the dvd player with any package - including just 2 packages - and still get the half price 3 month offer - so i will try another dixons on monday

try the dixons on st annes square its only round the corner from the arndale

    Something else:

They will all pricematch their and eachother's websites. eg. If you see an offer saying "MP3 Player Special online only price £169.99- In store price £199.99", just go to the store and ask them to match it, and they will. I did this with my 20Gb Sony MP3 player a few weeks ago and saved myself £40 :T

People dont seem to comment that Sainsburys or whoever have put up the price of eggs a week after putting down the price of eggs......seems odd that Dixons are being castigated for doing the same thing.

What I mean was the its strange to do a closedown sale at 50% off and week later its only 30%.

I wanted to buy the firewire cable orig price £20 at 50% £10 NOW its only 30% off :( I was hoping for 75% off Maybe our store isnt closing or its something else that I dont understand,

Our local Sports Soccer has been 'closing down' for about 6 years. They always seem to have 'Closing down' stickers in their windows.

I'm sure that can't be legal, but I guess technically they are closing down, they are just failing to mention a date. (they will eventually be forced to close down when the world comes to an end - that'll learn them)
