Fullscreen DVD Playback on Lappy

I got one of the Dell Inspiron Lappys in the recent deal. The trouble is DVD playback. However I configure the playback I cannot get the picture to fill the screen. The screen is basically 16:9 so I would have thought any DVD that is 1.85:1 aspect ratio should reasonably fill it. Even 2.35:1 films should at least get to the sides. However any DVD I've put in it plays in a postage stamp sized picture in the middle of the screen. On the 'fullscreen' settings. I've tried this through WMP and the dvd software that came with it.

Any suggestions?

Go into the BIOS (press F2 at the initial 'Dell' screen.) You should see a menu on the left hand side. Select 'Video' then 'LCD Expansion'. This controls whether the machine always scales up the picture to fill the screen or not. If it is set to 'off' then try setting it to 'Enabled' and see if that makes any difference.
