I have found Direct Line to the cheapest for young people.

I paid £1575 for my first year! :(

It depends on what car your son has, level of cover, excess amount, who will be on the policy and where you live.
My 1st premium was around this figure, but that was for fully comp on a new car, but only a 1.0.

Have you tried adding yourself as a named driver on his policy, that brought mine down.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!

My 17 year old son is insured with Quinn Direct and we have found that they were the cheapest for him. Give them a try it might be worth it.

Please avoid Quinn especially if he has a provisional licence

We only used Quinn once he had passed his test.

They are great for selling cheap insurance.

Just as long as that's all you ever want from them!

When my 17yo lad started insurance Direct Line finally gave him an extra 10% discount for pass plus.
Pass plus comes a few months after starting the insurance. In some areas its funding from motor fines.
I had an exchange of letters when they changed the goal posts claiming a 20% introductory discount is the most he could have and as he already had that there would be no extra for pass plus.
So get in in writing if you can.
