Getting 'payment review fee' back from A&L

I was just wondering if anyone could help me with this before I ring A&L up. On the 1st July a direct debit for £36 went out of my account for my TV licence. This made me go past my overdraft limit and I have been charged £25 for a payment review fee.

The thing is that I have a standing order from another of my banks going into A&L on the 1st of every month that would cover this direct debit ten fold. Can I get my money back because surely the standing order would have gone in at midnight on the 1st at the same time the TV licence money went out and I wouldn't have gone past my overdraft limit

I would be grateful if anyone can help.

  • If its a first charge then they may refund it as a gesture of goodwill. I would probably ask the question to them.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
