Personal Statement in Clearing

Options
I am eligible to add a Clearing choice in Track as of now. The offer I have is for a completely different subject to the one that my personal statement relates to.

The college that has offered me a place is aware that I originally applied for other courses.

If I add the Clearing choice in Track will the college receive a copy of my original PS?

Clearing hasn't started yet, it starts the day of results. I think you are referring to UCAS Extra. In which case the university will see your personal statement and all other UCAS info' as normal. I wouldn't worry about them seeing your statement though, I'm sure they'll understand the situation you are in.

You say you have been offered a place which can't have happened, at least no officially, until you've applied. Any offer you have at the moment is not official and I wouldn't rely on it.
  • Your full application will be seen after you give the college your clearing number. The best thing to do is to write a new statement focussing on your new choice and send it to the admissions tutor for your chosen course, explaining that you have chosen your course and the reasons why.

Yes, it has. Clearing opened as early as 11 June for some students. See www.ucas.com/resultsandnextsteps/clearing/facts for more information.

What is the difference between clearing and UCAS Extra? And how can a person search, and thus apply, for courses that are in clearing? The list is only published on results day whereas you can search for UCAS Extra places online now.

UCAS Extra ran from Feb to June and was available to students who didn't hold any offers; it gave students the option to make additional choices.

Clearing is the process by which colleges & universities try to fill all the remaining places and applies to students who apply after Extra has finished, students who have no offers after this date and students who do not make the entry requirements for their first or second choice.

Although the clearing list is not produced until results day, as long as students have a clearing number, they can be offered (and accept) a place through clearing between June & results day.

Hope this clears things up for you.
