Charged twice for home insurance with LV

I bought home insurance from LV last tuesday. I was a bit surprised as I did not get any reference number but it showed on the screen that the transaction has been completed and I should get an email. No email received and I contacted LV and was told there was no record. I bought the insurance again and it is now showing on my Halifax statement as having paid twice. I phoned LV and they only have one record. Funny enough the first transaction has tracked on quidco but not on LV's record. Halifax said I need to wait and in the meantime it seems I have got to pay for 2 lots of home insurance. Also I have not got any policy yet from LV, I wish I did not take any insurance from they, they are hopeless. Has this ever happened to anybody? Thanks

Ask them to check their website's system to see if the original policy is showing on there.
Some insurers have a separate system for their website (which charges your card). The policy is then copied over to their mainframe computer (either manually or automatically). I think LV might do this, so the policy may have been "lost" in the transfer.0
