Best Insurance for Elderly dog

  • thank goodness he is in a nice warm home to recuperate, not feeling stressed and uncomfortable in kennels (which no matter how well run, are full of the sounds and smells of other stressed and confused dogs!).

Hope he makes a good recovery, poor lad - and... we do need to see photos you know!!

Was a good boy overnight, woke me up to go out the back at about 5.30am at which point I noticed the sneaky thing had been sleeping on the sofa!

Sorry no advice on insurance, just wanted to say well done you for taking on this old boy!! I've given retirement homes for senior dogs before and it is so rewarding, they are so grateful for another chance! I've looked at your pic and he looks very good for his age! Hope you have a wonderful life together, spoil him lots!

handsome boy - he does not look 11 though!!!!

Its hard to tell on the piccie but he looks quite lean for an elderly lab too, which is good!

    Do you know his history?

Yeah, he;s in really good shape for his age. The only thing that gives it away is a few grey hairs on his chin and a slightly stiff back end.

As far as we know we're his 2nd home. He came into RSPCA with his mate, a 7 yr old staffie (I would of loved to take him as well but we;ve only got a small 2 bed house!) following the divorce of his owners. It certainly seems like he's been treated really well, very well trained and so calm. I teach piano from home and have lots of children visiting so I have to pick dogs quite carefully. He met the first child today and he was so gentle.

Taking him to RSPCA vet tomorrow to have his drain taken out and a check up so hopefully it won't be long before we can get the plastic bucket off - he's bumping into all the furniture and doorways at the minute!
