Fixed Price deal ending in August - when to switch to avoid penalty?
We are currently with Scottish Power on their Fixed Price Energy 2009 tariff. This tariff ends on the 31st August 2009 and so we'll be looking around to switch providers soon. The question is however, when should we switch to avoid the £50 exit penalty if we switch on or before 31st August 2009? Should we be looking to switch around the 1st week of August or is that still potentially risky and we should be looking to switch around or soon after the 31st to be safe?

Hi
The reason for this is that they are in it to make money and not save you money, TRY IT..........
I am with a company that will save you money compared to rest of the Market and we have French & Saunder's saying it as well
If you would like me to send you a link with French & Saunder's or a Free Information Pack, Please let me know0 -
Hi
The only problem with all of the different compare site's out there is that they are a Business and are only out there to make money for there Businss/Pocket
In other words they will say the Best one to go for will be the one who pay's them the Best that day, a good way to test this is go on to a compare site and put the name in of one company, it will now tell you to change to a different company, now do it again and put in that you are will the company that it told you to change to, it will now tell you to change to a different company again,
But it told you the first time to change to one company that is going to save you money and then when you say you are with the company that is the cheapest (as it just told you) it is telling you to change again
The reason for this is that they are in it to make money and not save you money, TRY IT..........
...
Example please with data used - always use kWh input data in comparison sites to get best results.
We get many people suggesting the comparison sites are inaccurate, but no data to back up the allegations ... will you be the first? I think not.
The comparison sites will list all the companies (unless you actively restrict the choice available ) and their true cost usually the cheapest first. It's then up to the consumer to choose the best for them.
See here for a recent example suggesting comparison sites were offering different results, but were in fact offering the same results (to within a few pennies)

Edit: oh, its a UW distributor spamming the board with their untruthful/misleading information again in a vain attempt to attract custom."Now to trolling as a concept. .... It will take 28 days minimum to switch supplier, usually a little longer.
However, to be safe, you should be able to apply on 4th August or thereafter and not suffer any penalty.
You may be able apply slightly earlier, but why risk it for £50 when any saving for the few extra days, couple of weeks will be peanuts."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
