Thanks for your replies, i need a monitor that indicates when the babies temperature rises above 38 degrees. It's for a friend of mine whose baby has epilepsy and when her temperature rises to 38 d she has convultions. i can only seem to find room temperature, not body temperature.

Has your friends baby been diagnosed with epilepsy or does she only have convulsions when her temperature rises above 38 degrees? The reason I ask is because my son suffers with febrile convulsions (which happen only when his temperature rises rapidly). If they are febrile convulsions, his consultant told us that it is not the same as having epilepsy and the majority of children grow out of it by the age of 5.

The advice we've been given is, at the first sign of a temperature to give him paracetamol and/or ibuprofen, strip him down to his nappy and open a window (if its not too cold). Despite doing this, it hasn't stopped him from having 6 febrile convulsions in 6 months (resulting in 4 stays in hospital) as they have usually been the first sign that he has an infection :(

We've got the BT Digital Monitor (not the one that monitors room temperature) and the clarity on it is amazing - it picks up the tiniest sound our son makes and is our 'early warning system' if he suddenly feels unwell during the night. I would also recommend getting a Braun Thermoscan In-Ear Thermometer, or something similar.

    Hope that helps
    :)
