Credit Card Use Overseas

I understood that Lombard Direct Credit Card did not charge extra on overseas purchases worldwide. The card is not mentioned in your reviews - am I misinformed?

I am a First Direct Customer and have been for many years and will never change as they are brilliant. When I use my Switch Card abroad, I do not pay any charges at all. First Direct do a special deal if you subscribe to First Directory (£9.50 a month) which gives the following:-

Comprehensive world-wide annual Travel Insurance for you (and your family)
    Mobile Phone Insurance
Free personalised text message banking (normally £2.50 a month)
Travel benefits - including fee free cash withdrawals abroad and commission free travel money
Leisure benefits - exclusive offers with great savings at restaurants, hotels and days out
Banking benefits - exclusive member offers and discounts

I used to have separate Travel Insurance that cost me £100 a year (Europe only) and I paid charges every time I took money out abroad. Now I have Worldwide Travel Insurance and don't pay any withdrawal fees.
You also get mobile Phone Insurance as part of the deal.
All in all a very good deal.

You will be paying an "exchange rate adjustment" i.e. comission.
This won't be explicitly seperated on yor statement so some people don't realise this is included.

    From their site:

    http://www.firstdirect.com/travelforeign/debit_card.shtml

we will convert the money you spend or withdraw into Sterling on the day we receive the transaction. Foreign currency exchange rates are used inclusive of an exchange rate adjustment, currently 2.75%, to cover handling costs.

Nationwide cards dont levy a forex loading. Liverpool Victoria (and their affiliates) dont load forex on EU currencies.
