More than 1,100 jobs at Allied Carpets are at risk after the firm went into administration.

Allied Carpets has gone into administration, but 400 jobs have been saved as some of its stores have been sold immediately. The firm has appointed accountants BDO Stoy Hayward as administrators.
BDO said that 51 stores and Allied Carpets' insurance business, which together employ 400 people, had been sold to Allied Carpets Retail Limited.
Allied had 217 UK stores and employed 1,500 staff. Outstanding customer orders will be fulfilled in all stores.

i bought some carpet from there yesterday and brought it home with me, i also bought a pack of laminate which isn't the right colour i hope i can still get a refund on it!

Refunds might be a problem, because it wasn't the administrators (or the company who has bought 51 of their stores) who sold you the laminate.

They are still trading, however I would personally be very careful about buying anything from them that I couldn't take away with me.

    Hi,

I know Allied was bought out earlier this year, but this appears to be the end for them, which is a real shame, There is only now one big player in the retail flooring sector: CarpetRight. No doubt CarpetRight will gobble some of the Allied stores up, and why shouldn't they? This will massively strengthen CarpetRights already impressive portfolio of British and European operations.

For those up in Scotland, I believe the General George chain of carpet stores are part of the Allied Carpets group. I would check up on your orders if you have any...

Yes thats right, but only a very small stake...Gates also bought some JJB Sports shares this morning.

Carpetright own a number of other flooring names, including Storey Carpets in the North, and Mays World of Carpets in the South, so it looks like they will now go from strength to strength now that Allied are defunkt.
