O2 Home Access broadband

Anyone used this?

It's the more expensive service as the exchange is not 'LLU' and O2 therefore must lease the equipment from BT.

I'm just wondering if anyone's ahd any problems/experiences with this service and if it is fast and stable enough for online gaming?

My friend is using it. He only can get 2mbps out of 8mb, after numerous complains he now can get up to 4mbps.

From what i heard it is better than BT so it is consider as "OK". Not too good for gaming such as WoW but it is stable and better than his previous provider BT.

This is not mobile broadband, it's O2's non LLU service. It's just a resold BT Wholesale product, so it will be much like any other BT ADSL service.
O2's CS is very good, but Access is ultimately dependent on BT equipment. And at £22 (or £17 with the mobile discount) it's not exactly cheap.

I have been with o2 broadband since I moved into this house about 2 years ago. It is great. I've never had any problems and their customer service is second to none. I honestly can't praise them enough. We had downtime for a week (an error our end) and they were still good enough to give us that week free as we hadn't been using the internet.

I also had to order a new router as ours packed in and it was here the very next day.

When we joined we signed up for 10mb and we only receive 3mb so they sent me an email letting me know they will be downgrading our package as we are paying for something we are not getting. I've never had a company do that before.

You will not get O2 'Standard' speeds on an O2 Access service. You will most likely get something similar to what you are on at present if your exchange is not unbundled, as it will still depend on BT.
You will still get the excellent O2 customer service, but that won't make your internet run any faster...

I understand this and I haven't had any problems with BT and get a decent speed connection. However, BT operate broadband throttling in the PM and O2 apparently don't. Two ports in particular the BT throttle affect (very badly) my Football Manager Live game, causing it to be unplayable from 19:00 on the dot every night.

Assuming I got the same speeds and lack of port blocking, O2 would be my better option - particularly as they have Uk customer service.

They probably would, however they do have a long stitch in contract and they are not that cost effective, have you looked at the smaller ISP's that only have a 30 day contract?

Have done mate but they are all £24+, and you have to fork out for your own wireless router.

Depending on your downloading requirements, you can get a quality service for less than that with a 30 day contract provider. I pay mine £17.60 a month.

I am using a Philips ADSL Wireless Modem Router that cost me £13.99 delivered.
