Hi,

My current PC is 5 years old and getting on my nerves. I was thinking of purchasing either of the following PC's and would like some advice as to whether either are worth the money or if I should be looking for something else.

I was looking for a gaming PC but it's not essential. I just want a PC that's capable of playing the latest games including an MMORPG where I can lag if it gets busy, allows me to surf the internet smoothly and comes with a good graphics card, RAM and Processor with room for expansion when necessary as I don't want it to be a relic in 3 years time.

Would the cheaper PC be a good option or the gaming PC?

Thanks.

    First Anniversary Combo Breaker
I'd rather go almost anywhere rather than PC Dixon's Curry World.
    These any good?

I know PC World has got bad press but I got my last PC from them with no problems. I'm also looking to take it out on finance. Thanks for the link, I'll have a look on the Dell website. :)

Name Dropper First Post First Anniversary
Dell Dimension every time. Then you can have the exact specs you want and it's built to order-not just what some spotty kid in PCW has been told to shift that day because it's been in the stockroom too long.
PCW can sometimes do good prices. Your problems with them start when you do have a problem with your system and you need customer service...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
  • would touch packard bell or currys/dixons/comet/pc world with a barge pole myself.

I'd second a dell dimension, I bought my 8400 about 4 ish years ago and never once gone wrong. Just upgraded the HDD and added a second recently all runs beautifully whatever I am doing. New games run fine apart from the few lazy games companies who cut corners and release them full of bugs (Cough eidos/ea I'm looking at you both!!!)

Anyway won't go wrong with a dell or maybe try building one yourself?

Oh and dont take dell/pc world finance get a bank loan as dell finance is a complete rip off

Thanks all. I've found the one I want. I'm going for the Dell XPS 430 and I'm practically giddy with excitement. :j With a bit of upgrading it's a dream machine, just looking for some discount codes.
