International access code providers & Virgin

I challenged Virgin that they were charging me their International rates and not the 0.05p per minute [for call to Singapore] when I used any of the cheap International access code providers listed on MSE linked sites. Virgin say unlike BT they have no agreement with the many special service providers I have been using. When I challenged them to tell me which providers they have agreements with, they refused to tell me as it would reduce their profits. The inference is that they do have agreements with one or more providers but WHO ARE THEY? I can find no reference anywhere in my web browsing to find one. HAS ANYBODY ELSE FOUND A PROVIDER THAT VIRGIN HAS AN AGREEMENT?

Suppliers other then BT can charge what they like to call any 0844/0871 number not just ones used for cheap call access. As you have discovered to your cost Virgin have decided to charge more.

Cheap Call suppliers do not have agreements with either BT or Virgin Media how much it will cost to call their numbers. If you look at their sites it will tell you the prices quoted are from a BT Line.

    http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/singapore your see

"Always double-check prices on providers websites before calling.Prices may vary from non-BT landlines. More info"

A work around to consder use http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php via their 0808 Freephone Number. Cheaper then VM and Cheaper connection charge, and normally you dont pay if your not connected to your destination unlike 0844 access numbers where you pay as as your hit the recording.
