Sorry have to share my good news!!!

in 2000 I was working for a company who paid my final pay by cheque when I left and posted it to me... to my Ex's address as we were in the middle of a split up at the time he didn't feel like forwarding all my post. I later got the letter (some years later) and thought I had missed the boat but kept the cheque to remind myself of never forgetting about money again. Reading on here I learnt that debts have a 6 year life span (as in if within 6 years of the debt you ask for it the debt remains current) so I sent a letter of with the cheque attached (kept a copy and sent it with signed for) and initially they didn't want to know but on pushing it they agreed to pass it on to the HR manager to evaluate. Just had word this morning that they have checked the systems to make sure I hadn't been paid this some other way (cheque or BACS I guess) and have confirmed that they will be re-issuing the cheque and sending it to me...

This gives me an unexpected massive:

£517

What great news!! Must try to remember of anyone owes me anything from years ago ...... no don't think so!!

When we are all looking for ways to save £20 here and £30 there it's brilliant to get over £500 in one little windfall. Bet you're still grinning!!

Well I think most of it will go on the debts really... I can't decide which at the moment tho but I guess clearing my 0% card would be a good plan... just in case I can't get another one when this one runs out :) And if I CAN get another 0% deal then fab I'll use it to pay of the loan or part of the lon if that makes sense :) I'm just trying to make sure I don't end up with anything at a HUGE apr until I have some confidence :D

I AM thinking of keeping some "me" money as a bit of a treat but I am debating on what to spend it on at the moment :) It woudl have to be something special and JUST for me as this is money I feel I have earnt to enjoy :) I know I shouldn't but it's not money that I am taking out of my budget and I am still putting the vast majority of it towards the debts.

    I'm open to suggestions :D

How about a mag subscription for yourself, or some nice cosmetics/ bathstuff/ fragrance( lots of freebies around again at the mo) ? Thats what Id do, and maybe a new top or something ( total £50) save the rest?

I think my head might come off if I grin anymore than I am right now yes ;) And you're right £517 suddenly seems a fortune! Saving £30 on a bill, getting £12 back in a cheque and suddenly a 3 figure sum!!! I feel like going to Tesco and buying a bottle of sparkly wine and pretending it's champagne ;)
