Changing a name on a holiday,stopping someone from changing a name on the holiday!

Basically, I have a holiday booked with my ex partner/partner to Mexico, complicated situation at the minute! Holiday is first week in October but the problem is, last weekend he went to a festival and wouldnt give me my ticket and im afraid of the same thing happening again! He says he wouldnt go without me to Mexico but im not sure i trust him anymore! I know what you're thinking, do i really want to go and the answer is yes, I really want this holiday! Anyway, up to what point could he change my name on the holiday and take someone else or is there anything else I could do to stop him from changing my name? He's the lead name on the holiday and im not sure he would change it!

If he is the lead name on the booking then AFAIK you cannot do anything to prevent him from changing the name.

If you don't trust him and really want a holiday why don't you go with someone else?

common decency which i thought he had would tell me that if you've got someone a present you dont take it back of them! And yeah i am concerned about the holiday, i had originally planned to go away with my sisters for my 30th and he convinced me to go with him instead, but obviously when we were getting on better! And i also agree its not healthy!lol!

Also, im a single mum with not a lot of money so id have to save up for a holiday away, ive not been saving a penny as as far as i was concerned it was all sorted!
But im gonna have to admit defeat with this one i guess, that theres nothing i can do, if he decides to change it he can change it, even at the very last minute!

Ask me 2 weeks ago and id say he wouldnt do it to me, but after what he did to me with the music festival, i cant trust that he wont do the same again!

If he paid for it, i think you can safely say he wont be taking you, if you paid for your share, then im really not sure what you could do, ooh boy is this a messy one. You could go to the travel agents and tell them you want to go on the hol and not to name change if he asks but im not sure they can do anything you say.

Are you sure that he can change the name, especially without your say-so? I've always thought that was pretty impossible to do (or prohibitively expensive).
Why don't you talk to him about it? You'd better get on speaking terms a you're going to be sharing a room for the holiday, unless you're planning on paying for a room elsewhere?

Last year my son was suppose to take friend with us on holiday and in the last minute he was ill and so he couldn't go. We took different friend - the leader of the party has to make the amendments and they don't request anything else from anyone else.

To change the name on it cost us £50 if I remember correctly.

OP, who are you going with? You could go on their website and have a look at their T&C. I am 100% it will be mentioned in there - under what circumstances and what is the deadline for changing names.

We are on speaking terms and we have talked about it and he swears blind that no matter whats going on at the time that hes def taking me as long as i want to go but on the other hand, i didnt think he'd sell my ticket to the music festival!

I really want to go on this holiday but i dont want to be left at the last minute with no one to go with and no money to go with, plus its difficult for me to get holidays at work so i cant change them and im using up 11 days of my 20 days for this holiday!

Ah jez, it is a disaster aint it!

I just think its so unfair, what if id booked the holiday and he's paid for it and i was the lead name, the rules basically say then that i could change the name without his say, it just seems so unfair to me! I think whoevers name is being changed should be contacted by the travel people, iykwim!

I think you will need to talk direct to the travel agent but i think they will only change bookings etc directly from the head of the booking. and i dont think you will be able to do a lot...:o

Also will he also be paying for you whilst out there too as you said no money to go with? Cool ex if he is! :rotfl:

Don't hold out much hope for you getting this holiday, who would want to drag an ex around and pay for them? As lead passenger he can easily and cheaply change a name on a booking. Nothing lost for you if you haven't paid for it.

Have you asked him why he sold your festival ticket? His response to that might give you an inkling about his plans for the plane ticket.
