:( council tax trouble.

just phoned council to check last nights payment through and they say court tommorrow for DH and Me.Apparently they issued a summons each for the same amount but its only one of the amounts.
anyweay summons not rec'd here.
wants dh to phone.My memory probs mean i cant talk on phone well.
Dh doesnt do £££.Has never done his accounts and since ive been ill has left it to me.
i feel sooooooooooo guilty that ive made amess.
we get inc ben(me) and ctc (for four but have another every other week) and ch.ben (same).
Dh has own business but has given up (still has premises as wants to go back) ,has done no tax returns since 12000 and is in business debts.
Its all my fault.I've got cfs and fibromyalgia and just cant cope.I have major memry probs and MAY have put the summons in the fridge/under a bed etc.
They'd all be better without me.
dh cant do his accounts because of me and therefore has no life and we cant get our benefits.
Social services provided 2 hrs last yr of ccare for 6 wks because carers outreach NAGGED AND THREATENED LEGAL ACTION!
If i was old i'd get more acc. to the s.w.
lasrt yr we nrly lost my housebecause of £ and some lovely friends helped us out but this is long term.stuff.
mort and other bills are up to date but not ctax.
entitled to say £25 pw ctben but i cant get accs.
wftc work on profit of £800 a YEAR
(my gp says a hobby not a career) but Dh WAS very successful and self supporting until he met me.and i got really ill 3 yrs ago.
I'm now checking widowers benefit because i've made4 acomplete mess.

If you have a diagnosed medical condition, which impairs your ability to manage things, do contact me about what routes are available through social services. I work in social services ( pretty quiet again today ) and I will see what avenues are available. You may have tried somethings, maybe theres something I can do to help, I hope so

Dh has now gone for walk with kids and will phone "later"when he has had a chance to think.
Its always been me who goes to court.Last time 2/3/4? yrs ago i asked the council why me? and they said it was silly but it was alphabetical!Now since my complaint they've changed the policy!Last time a local councillor(duty solicitor!) asked for the arrears to be written off and the council requested that too .(they cant do it unless ordered to by a court i think?).
I cant manage without Dh so it will be me in prison and i'd rather die.
I have 200 solpadol 30+ 500 lol(a months supply!)
well feeling sorry wont help.
off to get dressed....only takes half an hour!then battlestations...but i AM tired of fighting.(£ not DH;))

thanks lynz if we dont go tomm to ct (with 5 children?) then they get an arrest warrant? says the councill.
Kevicho went to CAB a few yrs ago for same reasons.
they pushed for divorce etc which with 8 children between us you dont do.Been there b4 and NEVER again.
will try again though.appts only so will phone during hours this pm.thanks i forgot about them.

i feel better for the replys.time to move from this chair!
DH has taken keyfor medicine for walk too so ill let him keep it until my tablets work and i get happy,happy,happy.

There is NO WAY you will be going to prison, absolutely no way so get that out of your mind. I know it's something that's threatened but it's only for extreme circumstances and it will not happen to you.

Please don't be so down on yourself, you're doing well dealing with your illness :T and I'm sure your hubby loves you and understands that you haven't intentionally got into difficulties.

Can I just say that you cannot be brought through court if you didnt receive the process, also check how they spelt your names on the processes sometimes a misspelling can prevent court action. I work in local government and deal with this alot although have no legal experience. It's up to them to prove you received it not you to prove you didnt! A way to find out is check and see if you made a call to them within a week of you receiving the notice, if you did then you most likely received it although if you didnt it's likely you havent got it.

There is no way they will send someone who is seriously ill to prison for debt - it's high risk, immoral, unethical, and not worth the bad publicity that is sure to follow!

Hi crutches, sounds like things are rally tough for you at the moment but don't let it push you to thinking about giving up completely!! Listen to Lynz, she has lots of advice and support she can offer, even if it's only directing you to who to contact in Social Services. Sounds lke they are already involved but you must tell them about your circumstances. Call them, tell them you are due in court tomorrow and need an advocate or something. Prison is not an option they will consider given your circumstances!

Debt is hard enough to deal with when you are fit and well, nevermind when you are ill! We are all thinking of you and keep posting so we know you are OK.
