Hopeless solicitors!

We are buying and selling with the same estate agents.We used the solicitors they recommended as we needed a quickish transaction adn this seemed the best idea.It has been hopeless I have done most of the work They never return calls and the online track your case facility has never worked.Ou r designated solicitor has now been off'sick'for 3 weeks and we are just passed from pillar to post with no info.We are supposed to exchange the beginning of this week and already wednesdat and still nothing.We are all agreed to complete on the 21st and I just don't know what to do I spoke to them today and they are so vague and I am getting really worried nowIf we exchange today or tomorrow at the latest can we still complete next friday?Is there anyone I can complain to about them?They really have been terrible

People do exchange and complete on the same day!
Complain to the head of the solicitor firm now, they may get onto the case. Also tell the EA you've had a bad experience and they could well stop recommending them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I agree with Silvercar - Not all Solicitors are the same.
Get the agents on the case - they need to do some work as well.
Your client care letter is legally required to provide you with the person you should speak to if you have problems, usually this is the supervising partner of the firm. Look at the letters you received at the start to find this information.0
