Heating element gone in dishwasher

I have an old but wonderful Bosch dishwasher and suddenly it has stopped heating up. This has two effects, firstly the stuff is still dripping wet at the end of the cycle when usually it is warn and dry enough to be out away. Secondly the fat doesn't get washed away from plates and things.

We have had an awful lot of expenses recently and only yesterday totted up the cost of car repairs, services, MOT, washing machine repair etc..and it came to a couple of thousand pounds and one more repair is likely to tip my OH over the edge. The washing machine man even broke a kitchen cabinet and we have no idea how to get that fixed as it is an MFI range so we can't get a replacement anyway and that is likely to be another expense even for a repair. Has anyone had a similar problem with no heat in a dishwasher and if so was it a cheap fix or an expensive one? Is it even repairable on an old machine or is it likely to be fatal?

Arghhh why does everything break down at the same time?

It's a perfectly straightforward repair if it's just the heating element. Impossible to say if still available as you didn't give the model number.
    Try eSpares.
If the washing machine repair man broke your cabinet, surely he is going to pay for it's repair/replacement?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
