Fitness First Help!!

Options
Hey, i need help!

Basically i joined fitness first for women a few months ago and want to cancel my contract because, well really its a waste of time and i can't afford it!
I have a student membership. I have sent a letter recorded delivery basically saying i want to end it due to financial reasons (but its said a bit better).
Now i was just wondering if anyone has any advice if they don't let me cancel?
ALSO i have actually NEVER been to use the gym, never had my membership card or an induction. Will this help at all? if so do you think there is any chance claiming money back?

Sorry for the essay, and hi i'm new! :D

thanks in advance!

If you've never actually been to the gym, you can't say it's a waste of time, as you haven't even tried it.

How long did you sign up for? If it's the usual 12 months contract, then you will have to pay for the full 12 months, so you may as well use it.

Telling them that you can't afford it is irrelevant to them - they'll still want the money for the full contract, and most of them don't care for sob stories.

What does the contract T&Cs say about cancelling?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you don't pay FF will chase you for the money, possibly getting debt collectors involved and marking your credit file accordingly. Sorry to sound harsh but this is a money-making venture for FF and you have signed a contract which they will make you stick to.

I cancelled my FF membership by giving 30 days notice. It was a few years ago (about 10!) and when I signed up I got the choice of signing up for the 12 month one or the month-by-month one which you could cancel in the first year, but was slightly more expensive.

I know what I'm like so chose the one you could cancel, just in case! I don't know if they still have those options though.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

My contract t&c's seem to say i can only cancel if its a medical reason, that sort of thing. On the website for FF though it says you can cancel by giving 30days notice.
Also when being signed up i'm the woman that did it said that i could cancel with 30 days notice.
I don't know if it is any different for a student membership.
I read on another random site somewhere about someone that had signed up, and never recieved their card so they were never technically thought of as a member....i'm not sure about this as i have not managed to find anything about that anywhere on the wonder web.
Urgh i am never signing anything again!

    Thanks for the replies
