Shock!

OH (now ex, but hey) got a PCN for not displaying my blue badge in the windscreen one morning last October whilst parked in the space we had just been allocated by the council.

I just didn't have the money to pay at the time, so I went through the appeals process, basically all the way through saying we thought it was a space just for us (voluntary, not statutory) as we had to give them details of the car, the taxation class (disabled), my medical details, etc, etc, and the sign said badge holders only, not that badge must be displayed. Everything received from the council said tough, we won't cancel it because we won't cancel it.

So I filled in the stuff to go to the tribunal. The council submitted the photos of the sign, the car and the tax disk (with disabled taxation class clearly visible) beside the PCN on the windscreen. Figured at least I had made them wait for their money (the parking guy had followed us home because I had taken a picture on my mobile of him illegally parked in the High Street the previous day, (the local paper was offering cash for piccies of this warden breaking the rules) so it was my own fault we attracted his attention, but I was still annoyed).

Anyway, me and OH split, so nobody turned up to the tribunal - I figured it was his problem, so I left it knowing that they would make a decision anyway.

Got a letter today. Because the sign didn't meet the legal specification as an asterisk was missing, the ticket was invalid!

Good news, but it had been a major source of friction since October when he got the ticket.

So it's worth appealing, even on the 'please let me off, I'm a nice person really' argument, as the tribunal could spot something you didn't.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
