No sooner seen than supplied:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=5357468&postcount=59 (18185 charges ½p/minute at all times for 0845 calls - via their 08081703703 access number).utilitybroker wrote: »Have you bothered to compare PlusNet rates to 18185 before posting this ?
EG 0845 peak 2p a min on PlusNet and 3p a min 18185.
Their is a cheap work round to call 0845 via 1899 0808 freephone number i think, but i cant remember it right now. Perhaps Heinz will come along and remind us.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I have skytalk, and pay my line rental to them also, is there anyway of avoiding paying the 08 no.s with themmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
A frequently asked question to which the answer is yes (but only for 0845 and 0870 numbers).I have skytalk, and pay my line rental to them also, is there anyway of avoiding paying the 08 no.s with them
Sign up for a 18185 account and use their 08081703703 access number (see the link in post #15). Not always as cheap as using the 18185 prefix when paying line rental to BT but a considerable saving on Sky's excessive charges.
Update 3-8-09. Sky now includes 0870 calls in its Sky Talk call packages.

The free 0845/0870 calls only includes numbers starting with that and not 0844/0871.
Well that's a con. Pretty soon everyone will just change their numbers to 0844 and 0871. I thought it was all of them that was free. I guess they make their money by catching people out that think that.0 -

Why is it a con the suppliers that do offer inclusive calls to 0845/0870 eg BT, Talk Talk, etc clearly state they are to 0845/0870.
Many companies have already changed their numbers to 0844 and 0871 so they can continue to share call revenue, now that revenue sharing finishes on 0870 from 1/8/2009.0
