I live in Bicester and was wondering if anyone knows of anybody who fixes Laptops. My son has a Sony Laptop and it decided to pack up last week after only 18 months, called sony who said it would be £500 to send it back to them for repair, which to me sounds v.expensive. Any contacts would be appreciated.

    Hi Silver7,

I live in Oxford and recently I've had a problem with my laptop. I'd recommend MCM shop in Oxford (Cowley Rd), ph. # 01865 204 794. They were absolutely brilliant and it was not too bad moneywise either. ;)

Just discoverred this great service and have used it avidly ever since.
It's also a distinct pleasure to see the coin ticket machines coverred up and inactive."

oooh and the Park and Ride at Water Eaten is free (to park) but the Other one Pear Tree just 2 miles at the most charges!!!! Yet if you are coming into Oxford from the North - the difference in milage is negligable.

  • Does anyone know of good cheap places to eat a bite (not junkfood) and to spend a couple of nights without breaking the bank? Even B&Bs there seem to cost the earth and I'm way too old for youth hostels.

You can sometimes get £15 rooms at the Peartree Travelodge, if booked far enough in advance and mainly outside school holidays/weekends. It's on the edge of town, but the Park and Ride bus to the city goes from the carpark next door. Plenty of cheapish places to eat on Cowley Road, in East Oxford. Also the Radcliffe Arms in Jericho does very cheap pub food; not gourmet but decent enough. Look at https://www.dailyinfo.co.uk for lists of restaurants etc.

What i would love to see if a poundland or a 99p store.

There is a £ shop in Wantage. Right next door to the Clovers, which does more on the bargain side and you'd be hard-pressed not to find something in there. They even have naughtie undies and rude toys!!
