Buying a car from Autotrader
We are after a cheap vectra around £2000.i have noticed a few on autotrader trade sellers with only mobile numbers as contact - no office or landline number.Has anyone got any advice on this as we would be travelling 200 miles plus to collect car?
Thanks......Neil

I dont think i would buy from a trader with only a mobile number.I have brought from traders working from home with no problems.0

That seems a long way to travel for something as easy to get hold of as a Vectra, can't you find one nearer. You want to be inspecting it before you commit to buy and 200 miles is a long way to travel if the car isn't up to scratch.

With the "Telesafe" scheme on Autotrader, sellers real numbers can be masked to stop cold calling from other car selling sites etc,
so they might be telesafe numbers rather than mobiles
not sure if this link works wthout being logged in

An 0872xx telesafe number will be allocated to any Landline destination telephone number.
An 070xx telesafe number will be allocated to any Mobile destination telephone number.0 -
Just checked autotrader and there are 266 Vectras for sale within 40 miles of me.
No way would I travel further than that for such a common car.
Do you have some very specific model in mind?
Personally, I wouldn't even contact someone who only offered a mobile number.0
