End of of Sept I purchased a OEM windows xp professional. Last night when i done a windows update it came up saying my copy of windows could be counterfeit. I have spoken to microsoft who confirm to me that my copy isnt genuine. The seller we have purchased from is no longer a registered user. (unless changed user id) He had all positive feed back when i purchased but look back at his user name now there is quite a few negative on there after i purchased. We paid by paypal. Is there any way of getting this money back that he stole from us in a round about way?

Not via paypal there isn't. You are also out of time for a credit card chargeback, all you can do if you have a full address for seller is go to small claims.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Enjoy windows 7 free for the next few months. It's a very nice OS. Then decide if you want to buy it or pick up an old XP licence for a quarter of the price.0

You'll get it for free whilst it's a release candidate, after that they will probably want you to pay to continue.
Personally, I wouldn't bother. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
I thought MS would give you a license if you gave them the details of the person who sold it to you..?My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
We have looked into that and there is a form to fill in, so are going to go down that line.
Thanks
