eBay "send to online auction" feature

I have a BIN item ending today which (obviously) hasn't sold yet.

Is there any benefit to me in using the "send to online auction" function?

Or do I just pay an extra listing fee, the same as if I wait for it to end then relist?

You would only get the remaining time left as an auction, so let it finish and maybe rejig starting price and go for an auction instead.

You might also want to take a look at completed listings, if any more of the item has sold you can possibly guage if they go better as BINs or aucitons .

When I click send to auction it only gives me the option of 7/5/3/1 days etc. i.e. creating a new listing. I cant see how I can get 3 hours remaining as an auction?

I priced it at the top end of recently completed items and have steadily reduced the price. But you know how it is, people would rather bid a £1 item up to £35 than pay £30 BIN!

The other problem is that many items are searched for by recently listed. That way a buyer gets to see the latest bargain BIN offerings.

If you overpriced it originally, although you then reduced the price many potential buyers wont see the item again.

The bargain BIN items naturally don't hang around for long - the overpriced ones do and people are less interested then even if they do see it. They are wary of paying over the odds, and if its languished on ebay for days, they think its overpriced. They don't notice that you may have reduced the price in the meantime. If they do see you are continually reducing the price, they hold out in the hope you'll keep doing so ... or even relist with a lower price.

BINs are useful, but only if you set a price you know it will sell for - and stick to it.
If you don't know what it will definitely sell for, and you are keen to sell, list it as an auction item with a low start price (but one that you will be prepared to accept)

Furthering on from premier, what about visibility? Are your stars and feedback and your expanded seller dashboard near perfect as it is easy to become almost invisible if one of those elements start to slip. Does your style of auction/Bin vary from those that have sold previously, you ahven't let any little silly terms and conditions slip in have you that might be putting people off.

Sometimes though it is just a case that one seller can sell something and another, even at a lower price has no luck. Just one of those odd things.
