The thought occured to me that once Craphone controlled your broadband, they could start blocking your Voip ports to only their own Voip service when they launch it.

Intentional typo?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

It would be nigh on impossible (and probably illegal) for them to block ports in this manner. They would have to block pretty much every port as they are often easily re-configurable.To infinity and beyond!0 -
Plus - as the broadband service comes free with their International call service, you would not usually need VOIP anyway as most calls over the phone are included in the cost.To infinity and beyond!0

not most calls alot of places not included and cost more than VOIP, also ppl might want to use VOIP for second line in a different place ie have a number in other city or even other country. And according to reports on telecom newsgroups they already make alot of service not including web near impossible to use cause the do port network throttle. so things become realllllllllyyyyy slllllllooooooowwwww. As they say there no such thing as a free lunch and you get what you paid for. Also you notice it say in the press release it is subject to a "40 gigabit monthly download limit" That = to only 5GB. they since said they will change it after being hammer about it, but never know other "HIDDEN STUFF."0

Well they plan to shape even more the traffic by using packet analysis, so it doesn't matter what ports you sent the traffic over they would still know what traffic it is and take action, they also plan to block a lot of ports completely.
They could always add a lot of jitter to VoIP calls, to make them useless. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
