Stupid Question?

Options
I am new to this wireless network lark but have successfully home networked my laptop and my pc using a Belkin wireless router with a telewest broadband cable modem.

My laptop does not have the facility to connect out of range of the router and I would like to be able to connect to the internet anywhere in the country but to my ISP so that I do not have to pay.

Is this possible? If so, what would I need to buy for my laptop? (Dell Insiron 6000). I think it has this - Wireless NetworkingIntel® ProWireless 2200 802.11b/g Mini PCI Wireless LAN Card - but I think it needs something else to allow me to use it anywhere and being a complete nurd when it comes to things like this I haven't a clue.

Any advice please?

Have you set up a strong WPA-PSK encryption key, so that others can't connect to your wireless network? If not get yourself a good unique password from here. You should have also changed the router login password, so that others can't login and change your settings etc. See the Wireless look here sticky for lots more info.

No, it is not possible because your ISP subscription is enabling your line for broadband. You can connect to various wireless hotspots around the country but not many are free! Google for WiFi hotspots to find out more.

No, the instructions said to login into the Belkin website and do something but I could not understand the instructions so I left it.

I really would not know where to start - is there and step by step guide I can follow?
