Accident at work - where do I go from here?

Hi,
I had an accident at work on Monday, I know it's early to be thinking about all this but everyone is telling me I should sue them because they were at fault.
Obviously at the moment I don't know the full extent of my injuries and the future impact it will have.
But what should I do from here?
Cheers for any advice

If you want some advice you need to be a bit more forthcoming. On the information given no one could give any sensible advice. Let's have a bit more information.
What happened?
What is the impact on you so far?
What have you been told medically about its effect on you so far?
How long have you worked there?
How was the accident your employer's fault?
Apart from you what other witnesses are there?
That may help get some responsesJohn0 -
What happened? Was walking around one the cubicles and there was a box on the floor sticking out, my foot caught at I went flying. Ambulance came, went to a&e, was just discharged after a couple of hours told I had sprained neck, given co-codamol.
Impact so far? I have a back problem (work already aware) which has flared up very bad since fall, sprained neck obviously which is causing dead arms, mainly right with tingling in right hand occasionally, sometimes left but not as much.
Told so far? Take co-codamol and ibuprofen, not sure if everything will wear off after a few days.
Worked there? For just over two years
Employer's fault? As soon as I fell over the H&S officer had a huge go at the whole office in front of me saying it shouldn't have been there, and that the person whose desk it was had already been told to move it several times.
Witnesses? About 14 other people in the office at the time, obviously don't know where they were looking at the exact time.
I'm not sure, but even the paramedic turned round to me whilst I was on the stretcher and said its their fault.

wasnt you walking backwards and fell over the box?
Accident at work - their fault - what do I do now??
Hi,
I had an accident at my work a couple of days ago, my back is !!!!!!ed, I am flat out. My work now I have minor back problems and certainly a history of it in my family but this accident has made it all so much worse, the doctor has said I could be out for 6 months! - and may not be able to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day ever again - which is what my job requires!
What do I do?
It's their fault I'm like this they had boxes in the middle of a walkway that I fell backwards over.
Went to A&E.
Any help much appreciated!0 -
As you were sent to hospital and have been off work your employer should be submitting a RIDDOR report on form F2508 to HSE, and investigating the incident.
The incident should be investigated and you should be asked for your side of events, and have this recorded by the h&S officer. They will / should also take views from other who saw the event and then use this information to review what happened and what actions can be learnt. This should then be used to inform any relevant risk assessments in the workplace, or perhaps highlight a need for a new one entirely.0 -

What a leech.
It was a minor fall.
Unless you end up with serious long term damage accept this and move on. Your pre existing injury was just that. Pre existing
Is it any wonder our economy is going to !!!!.0 -
if you have a case inform your union and they will take things further. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0

Steve. As long as the incident is recorded your in the clear. Ignore the leech post. You are entitled to claim within three years of the accident and my advice to you is place a claim for your suffering. Anyone of the companies who advertise on TV would take up your claim against the company.
I had a fall at work because of some negligent decorators, I fell down a flight of stairs because the decorators had not removed their messy paste from those stairs. I now have a severe disability having undergone two operations on my knee. My life is a complete mess through neglect. In my case I appointed a local solicitor, best thing I ever did. Some of these who advertise are never seen, nor are they very helpful in corresponding with the claimant. I have been absent for just over twelve months, I have lost my job as a plasterer through all this and my earning potential virtualy taken away from me. Besides my earning potential I cannot participate in anything I once did, I struggle to walk.
Get your claim in, it could take months or even over a year but do it whilst the iron is hot.

Did you not post this recently with a different story - ie you were walking backwards whilst chatting??
You are simply after compensation rather than actual advice I feel.0 -
If it's only been a few days, then give it time and take your pain killers and ibuprofen.
I presume work are paying you whilst you're off sick??
There's really no point suing unless you're left drastically out of pocket due to this. Your friends advising you to sue probably spend too much time watching "Where there's a blame there's a claim" adverts on tv!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Phone you're house insurance if you have any , pursue an injury claim and get what you're entitled too .
Theres an awful lot of bad advice from OPs , IF YOU'RE INJURED AT WORK CLAIM its that simple . Thats why they have insurance
LinasPilibaitisisbatman , The economy is a mess because of bad management across the board, from bankers to corrupt politicians , not injury claims .
If you've not got anything decent to post dont bother !0
