Equigas & Equipower HELP!!
Hi
I have today switched to equigas and equipower from british gas.
my questioned is to those of you who have switched recently to Ebcio ltd, my start date was today and i recieved my welcome pack and gas card on the same day different envelopes, the gas card came on a letter with southern electric all over it nice and colourful, thats ok( i know they are only agents for ebcio ltd).
But my electric card came today in a plain envolope the a plain letter, no mention of equipower or southern electric. It said
" You have recently changed to a new electricity supplier and they have requested that we send you a new smart card on their behalf. You will find your new card enclosed.(Which i did) The card is very plain as well with just " Electricity Payment Card" on it, no southern electric or anything to say where it was from.
The letter went on and at the end was signed

I have phone southern electric about it as i was not convinced that it came from them as there was nothing at all on the letter or card to say it was from them not even on the envolope it came in.
They said "oh right well we will send you another card out first class post today to make sure you have the correct card" they did'nt say anything about this card i have recieved or anything i asked them again and they said don't worry we have sent another card out just to make sure you have the right card.
Has anyone else had this above?
Help would be nice and your comments
Frank

Thanks for that alared, but the standing charge for the electicity has gone up from £0.92 to the above of £1.36 ( so they did not need to change it)
And the gas has gone up from £0.000 to the present reading of £0.1094
Dont know what they are playing at
But still would some feedback from the card situation above.0 -
I would give ebico a ring.0

Hello again :j , as you know I also just joined Equipower & Equigas (10 April).
All I got was a welcome letter and a card (with their name on it) that I had to return to them with my meter readings for gas and electricity.
There is no mention of tariffs on the correspondence I received.
Where did you get those tariffs from?0 -
Look at
http://www.ebico.co.uk/en/open/pages/tariffsen.php
Gas prices appear to be national but elec vary according to area0 -

Got them off my meter itself. But have phoned southern electric and they have confirmed the tariffs of ebcio ltd and that i am not being charged standing charge and that i can get a refund every few months or whenever.(if i am in credit)0 -
I am with Ebico, you have got check your bills from Southern,as i have found more than one or two mistakes with the unit prices.
They do put it right but it is a nuisance having to contact them.
PS. There are no Standing charges with Ebico, unless you do not have a BG district supply to your property.
Many new estates now have their gas mains installed by third party contactors, and you then have to pay a daily charge, to an independant Gas supplier.0 -

I have been with Equipower/gas since May 2005, but have never had a refund for my gas or electric standing charge (card meter), has anybody else had a refund yet, if so, how did you go about it.
Many Thanks,

Check your meter readings are correct first, then check how much you have paid vrs how much you have been charged. Some meters are quite restrictive and charge a higher rate than you are actually paying, thus you get a rebate.
With newer meters this shouldn't be a problem.

As a footnote to this, I have just contacted Ebico because I received a letter stating that my gas price was changing, and I should see a higher refund because of this, I called them and explained that I have never had a refund since joining them, they are sending me a Cheque for £83 for gas, and they are going to sort the electric backpayment out too.
The nice guy on the helpline says that I should have phoned up every 6 months with my meter readings to sort out a refund. I did not know this!!..
So, I must remember to call again in May / June.
If you have never had a standing charge refund from Ebico, call them. 0845 678 0050.
