cancelling an application and submitting another

ive just applied for the 9 months interest free charity card as im about to purchase some stuff for my flat.... then notice theres a 12 month free card sprung up with somerfield (or sainsburys, i forget)

anyway i have an excellent credit rating but im not sure whether this will take a hit if i cancel one application. or even if i apply for 2 seperate cards in the space of a day.

i certainly dont anticpate needing credit again in the near future and ive just re-mortgaged for 5 years so dont expect it to have any major negative effects but can anyone offer me more information.

might it just be best to apply for both then just close one account, unused, after a month or so?

as far as I'm aware once you've applied & they've done the credit check it's on your file & they'll offer you a limit, you might as well take it, I had to apply to 2 cards in the space of a fortnight & was accepted for both & the 2nd card limit was higher than the 1st - depends on who you apply to

hhhmmm might be worth while just applying for the sainsburys card and using that for all my purchases and just closing the charity card account after a month unused then

ach, ive just got sooooooo much on in my private life that i dont have the time to spend to arrange everything and be organised enough to stooze and do matched lay betting etc.... otherwise i most definitely would. all i want is a good deal for the purposes i require it for, for now.

i cant believe it, they have just knocked me back for the sainsburys card!!! ive never had a single application turned down, have never missed a single payment on anything, have tons of excellent credit history, own my own house, earn 21k.......... i just cant understand it... unless applying for the charity card last night and this one tonight has screwed it up! it may be cos they are both under the HBOS title. anyone care to comment???

or could it be ive just moved house and i know the previous owners were quite in debt and judging from amount of junk mail, on the books of a lot of credit card companies!!!
