MP3 Mains Charger Question

I have a sansa fuze MP3 player that charges from the USB port of my computer. I want to get a cheap Mains to USB adaptor to charge it with as well. I have seen lots of Mains to USB on Amazon but when I look at the customer reviews there are lots of comments to the effect that some of them charge some things but are not compatible with newer devices. Does anyone know how to find out which one will charge a sansa fuze. I obviously don't want to be buying stuff and returning it.

Thanks in advance

I'll confirm that some chargers with a mini usb connector won't charge some devices which are designed to be charged with a PC USB cable - I have an MP3 player that doesn't charge with a phone charger I have although the connector is the same and the phone charges OK on either the mains charger or a USB cable.

A quick search on ebay throws up plenty which are claimed to be compatible. The cheapest seem to be from HK or Singapore sellers though. Many avoid HK sellers but I've bought quite a few bargains from there and very few lemons - just don't expect a Rolls Royce if you are paying a pushbike price.

The fuze will charge from a "dumb" USB supply - IE poweredUSB hub that isn't plugged in to a computer, or USB wall/car charger.

I bought a pack from Play I think that had a single socket USB wall charger and double socket USB Car charger* (Isound?) for about a fiver, the fuze charges fine from them (I bought a couple of spare cables for it from Ebay as well so I can leave one in the car, and one in the wall charger**).
Before I ordered them I unplugged one of my USB hubs from the PC so it was just connected to it's mains adaptor and tried plugging the fuze into the hub, which worked so let me know it would charge ok :)

Basically the problem with some newer devices is that they require a data connection before they will initiate charging, something that annoys me as it means you're stuck charging them from a computer only, or from a specific adaptor they usually sell for a tidy profit (my Ebook reader is a good example, great piece of kit, but will only charge from an active USB connection to a computer, or a wall charger with a pin type connection that sony sell for about £25)

*So I can charger either my phone or sat nav at the same time as the Fuze

**My mum has a Fuze as well, so she takes the wall charger on holiday with her.

just curious what sort of battery life do you get with your Sansa Fuze?

It supposed to be 24 hrs but i am lucky to get 10hrs before battery runs very low.

i'm getting about 20 hours for mp3 audio (128-256 bit rate), although i have the screen set to turn off after about 10 seconds as that eats up the battery.

The short answer is I'm not sure yet.
    The long Answer is
I have only had it for about a week, It came with the battery charge icon showing about .75% full. By the time I had downloaded some stuff it was at about 80% then I used it. Later I read in the instructions on the cd 'make sure you fully charge it before first use' -- oops. Here's hoping I did not damage it. Anyway by then it was down to about 30% charge, so I reckon it used 50% in about 5 hours. Same as yours. I then fully charged it and that's where I'm at.
Except to note that I will be disappointed if it remains at 10 hours per charge because the 24 hrs was a good part of the reason I chose that one.
And when charging I disconected it a couple of times to see how it was doing and I noted the charge Icon belted up to showing about 95% full, then it took as long again to put in that last .05% from which I conclude that the indicator is not linear. So I am hoping to get quite a few hours before it indicates any discharge.
