bolsover cruise club

we went on a cruise last year, and enjoyed it so much that we decided to book again this year. found one with a great itinery, 16 nights from rome to new york on a new Holland America cruise ship. i spent all weekend trying to get the best deal. in the end i booked with vacationstogo.com on sunday night.I used them last year and they were very good. I paid $1761 each which included taxes. Cheapest inside cabin, but we would only use it to sleep so I can't see the point of paying extra for a porthole.
Anyway, on Monday morning I had a call from Bolsover cruise club to quote me as they were unable to over the weekend. I was quoted £734 each (round about $1250) which included taxes. I told her that I had already booked the night before. However, I couldn't believe that they had quoted the same cruise so cheaply. I phoned her later to make sure it was the same cruise and she confirmed the price. Besides that, the cabin offered was the next grade up. ($400 more each on the Holland America web site). I called vacationstogo, and told them about the quote I had received. they tried to match it but couldn't come anywhere near it.
If it had been a few dollars difference, I wouldn't have bothered trying to cancel with vacationstogo, but $1000 is too much extra to pay, and so I am in the process of cancelling with them and rebooking with bolsover.
I also managed to get a one way flight to rome for under £15 each - including taxes. I think the flight back from new york is quite well priced too - aer lingus for £139.
stay lucky!
Steve.
