London Parking near tube station?
I am going on a trip to London next week. Going for two days and staying one night. I was initially going to go on the train but having looked at the astronomical train fares I am now considering taking the car.
However, I don't want to take the car into central London (which is where we are going) so would anybody know of anywhere I could park the car overnight, very close (within walking distance) of or at a tube station? Preferably on the south west side of London?
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I did manage to find this myself but it isn't that helpful too me as I am not familiar with London at all so I don't know which of these tube stations are the most south westerley or how easy they are to get to etc.
Also, the couple of car parks that I looked at out of curiosity do not offer 24 hour parking.

Most London boroughs have residents parking schemes now to prevent people doing just that. Unless you plan to arrive late on Friday evening, and leave early on Monday morning (as the schemes are often suspended over the weekend), you will be ticketed and towed away. Even if you do arrive out of these hours, you'll find it hard to get a parking space, as they tend to be full of resident's cars (most people who live in London and own a car still commute to work via tube). The pay and display meters are usually about £3+ per hour, and have a 4 hour maximum stay time, and residents scratch cards also don't cover full days.
I can't see your plan working to be honest, unless you know someone in London who might permit you to park in their driveway, or unless you travel to a town close to London (eg Watford or somewhere) leave your car in the station carpark, and train the rest of the way in. Though I don't know which towns have carparks and which are open 24 hours a day, and I can't imagine that to be very cheap either!0 -
Hi Nicki
I feared as much! Thankyou for such a detailed reply. Looks like it is back to searching for cheap train tickets..........

I normally drive into London on A5 (kilburn high rd), and when I see Killburn Tube station, I park in one of the side roads in that area, (no parking restrictions and it comes under zone 2 on the tube network), I know its not SW but its the best I can offer.
OOPs just checked on google, may be parking restrictions in the street that I normally park in.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -

Richmond station is a good place to park for a day trip into the city, but I don't know if it would work for an overnight stay.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

In the link that Quentin kindly supplied to you, click on the 'getting around' button.
Then click on 'maps'.
Choose the appropriate map and you should then be able to work out which stations are in south west London.0 -
When I go to London I go on the bus. Price will depend where you are coming from but have a look at www.megabus.comMiddlers0

Why don't you park at somewhere like Twyford? Although it is not in London, there is a street within walking distance of the train station with no parking restrictions and is very safe & secure. There is an express train from Twyford to London as well. A travelcard works out about £12/£13 and when you buy an adult ticket, kids go for £1!The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

This is the sort of thing I had in mind but as I said in my previous post, I don't know this part of the country at all!! I will have a look in to parking at Twyford though.
