Am going to sydney on my honeymoon but i want to see about hiring a kilt to take over with me. I know they are pretty heavy can any body tell me what the average weight of a kilt would be as it would need to be included in my baggage allowance so i wanna plan if i can do it or not

A medium kilt weighs about 6.5lbs. I leave it to you to metricate this.

You could try and get a light weight one, a 10oz i think, usually they are 14/16 oz and the lighter one would help with the heat. Remember best way to transport a kilt and keep pleats folded is to roll up and put inside a pair of tights!

You can hire them in Sydney !!

The Edinburgh Tattoo was over there last February and the kilt of one of the police pipe band got lost en route in his luggage and he hired one no problem.

I could prob find out where in a few days if you were going to do this. Or ask on tripadvisor.com Sydney forums

There is a large Scottish contingent over there and has the demand. 6 night sold out for tattoo in 30,000 seater stadium !
