Marks & Spencer Credit Card - PPI

I have had a M&S Credit Card (originally Chargecard) for many years and have been paying a PPI premium every month. I am not aware of agreeing to this when taking the card, can I claim the money back?

Did you not check your statements and think to call them to cancel it?
You might get a refund for the last PPI payment but not for every month you have been paying.
  • Yes I looked at it every month but didnt do anything about it, but I will now.
  • you are entitled to a full refund if you were mis-sold

It's proving it was mis sold will be the key.
They will just turn around and say that you should of checked your statements, maybe you will speak with a friendly advisor that might refund a few months for you

Just have a look at Martin's article about reclaiming PPI and I bet you will find all the answers there. There are also template letters etc which might help you, together with specific advice on what to say and do.

First stage is to establish grounds. Did you specifcially ask for PPI to be added? Did you need it? (did you have income protection, savings, employment benefits) Would it of covered you? (i.e. were you self-employed, p/time worker, not working, student). Did you have any pre-existing health conditions? If you can demonstrate that it wasn't suitable, it will be very difficult to prove that it wasn't mis-sold. Eitherway burden of proof is on M&S to prove it wasn't mis-sold, not the other way round. good luck
