I was about to make full use of the offers when I discovered that the Post Office have an introductory offer of 0% on bts for 12 months. I decided to try for it and described myslf as a homemaker rather than unemployed as I run the house for my Father so its not a lie. I was encouraged to do this as I have a friend who has not worked for 13 years, has no intention of looking for work and has had umpteen credit cards. I presume she is putting her live-in partner's salary on the applications. The PO will write to me to let me know if I've been accepted. I will report back to the forum.

Good news! Barclaycard did not ask me to confirm my employment status so I transferred as much as possible from the Virgin card. Also, the Post Office have accepted me but I've yet to be told the credit limit.

existing lenders............I've used them simply to temporarily dump my debt, not used the card and then moved the balance when the 0% period was up. They must be used to tarts' behaviour!

So, when you had money coming in, you've made no inroads into your debt, just happily rolled it along in front of you?

Now, that your incoming money has been greatly reduced, how will you ever reduce that debt? In a year or so,
when the current offers have run out, you will have the same problem, only worse.

I suppose, then you can talk about 'irresponsible lending': "I should have never been given the card, I was unemployed,
do I have to pay it back?"
  • For your information I have just been offered a job. I was finished up from work through no fault of my own and there is nothing wrong with looking for a little breathing space.
Your final sentence is so banal, I'm not going to grace it with an answer.
I posted on this forum for advice, not unwarranted criticism.
