Glass Safety film

Hello,
I've seen some safety film that covers glass, so that in the case of breakage the glass stays in the door. Its in Mothercare at 20 GBP for 72inch by 24 inch. I was wondering if anyone has seen this more cheaply or can offer an alternative.
Also I noticed that there was no British Safely Standard/Kite mark on it. Does anyone have any experience of using it, was it worth it or are there any better alternatives for making glass doors less dangerous if they break?

I have the mothercare stuff(I was  at the price but had no other alternative) on my internal french doors, for childminding purposes. I raised my two boys through toddler-hood without any accidents but for me in my job, it's a legal requirement. Also, the piece of mind is worth it, especially when I have other peoples kids in my care.
We got a labourer friend to put it up, he has lots of experience and he said that it was more difficult than the stuff he had used before. It doesn't look at all good, there are lots of air bubbles. I think it may be better on larger panes of glass, ours are small. Needs must though!
He said that in the building trade they use a slightly thinner version but I'm not sure where you can get it, sorry. Maybe ebay?
Sorry I can't be of more use but I thought I'd add my two penneth
