Experiencing problems with some web pages

Options
I am having some problems with some web pages (not MSE but the BBC's weather site and the A&L site, I'm sure there will be others) in that the words are now displayed in a larger size. It appears that the larger words are trying to fit into a smaller space and the words merge over themselves or are missing and it is difficult to read, particularly if they are instructions.

This problem is difficult for me to explain but I hope someone out there understands what I mean and can help me out.

Thanks.

Just tried the BBC Weather page (Home page and Local weather) and can only get it to 'glitch' slightly on Firefox on quite a large font (increased 3 times from 'normal'). Very slight mis-alignment with some of the text and graphics in largest IE font.

Are there any specific pages on the BBC site where it goes blobby?
  • Main problem is with A&L but the page I am having difficulty with is after I log on so impossible to show you.

The BBC weather page, ages ago I set the homepage to show the weather for my area. When I access that page, it shows the temperature for Tuesday and Wednesday in a box each with the weather conditions behind (raining !!!!) but, because the font is too large, the temperature figures have been pushed down and are obscuring the "full 5 day forecast for .." ... this is what happens on A&L but because there's more words in some boxes I can't read the instructions to input the data.

I hope this makes it clearer ..... but I'm not convinced

    BTW what is Firefox.

    Thanks.

When viewing one of the problem pages, try turning the mouse wheel whilst holding the Ctrl key down.

  • Hi,

When on a page like that click on "View" in the menu bar at the top of IE and then click on "Text size". You'll get a choice of making things bigger or smaller.

IE is Internet Explorer, hopefully what you're using to look at MSE etc. (Firefox is an alternative to IE, does pretty much the same job).

When you're looking at the BBC site, go to the menu at the top of the screen and select View, then move the mouse down to Text Size then across to Medium and click the left button. The current text size has a blob to the left of it by the way.
  • That's great ... I'm sorted, thanks for all your help.
