New Egg cashback card

Martin
Yesterday I applied for the new Egg cashback card online. Part of the registration process required me to enter my current account details in order to set up a direct debit. Egg therefore have my current account details. Then they refused my application. Is this usual practice, and what will Egg do with this information? Thanks:|

Take all of your money to feed the hamsters!!!

I'm being silly of course they won't do anything with the information.

Egg are not by any means the only card provider to do this - I received an application today 'pre-approving' me for a Barclaycard Goldfish reward card. This asked for my bank account details (although it did state that this information would not be used to take payments ie they would not set up a D/D with the info.)

It is only your account number and sort code they have - The same details that are printed on any cheques you issue.

    Nothing sinister....
  • Thanks for replies. Presume the Egg site was pukka and I did not agree to set up a direct debit to pay the fee:|
