ooh lucky!
Ive got 2 PVC greenhouses that I bought last autumn on sale.
Ive grown spring onions and rocket which both survived the winter.
At the moment they are full of tomato, pepper, aubergine, melon and cucumber seedlings and lots of lettuces. My neighbour uses the border in hers but says it is a pain having to sterilise the soil each year (they use jeyes fluid),you dont have to with containers as you can just rotate the type of plants that go in each one and its easier to replace pots of earth with some from the garden. Some people have a layer of gravel and grow in rings of earth sitting on the top of it.
Brassica seedling dont seem to do so well though,I think it gets too hot for them.0 -

Got myself a 6x6 greenhouse yesterday (lady no longer required it) and should be up within 2 weeks needs new screws 'w' & 'z' clips and need to replace 2 broken panes (done in trasport) and need a base for it.
so what things can you suggest i'm a total novice here i know you can get excellent results with toms and cucumbers but don't know where to start.
Any help?0 -
So in the long run it would be better to use slabs and use pots for the toms/cucumbers.0

I've always wanted a greenhouse and often see ads in the local rag, saying 'buyer dismantles'. How easy is this?? Do you need special tools or superhuman strength??
Is it tricky to put back together again??
any tips would be fab, thanks0 -
Having just moved my greenhouse to our allotment I can tell you that it is pretty easy!
First take out the glass...usually held in with spring clips ...a small screwdriver will pop them out. Then take the frame to bits .These are usually held together with nut and bolt type affairs so a ratchet/ spanner will do the job.
The hardest part is remembering how it all goes back together!!:D0 -
Yeah took me about 3 hours and did not know anything about how to take apart. I took 30mins or so taking pictures and numbering all panes of glass i.e LS1 (left side from door pane 1 etc) also the frame.
I havent put it together yet but you can buy the 'w' clips (holds the glass) and 'z' clips (holds the 2 tier glass) from ebay/diy stores.
If you want one go ahead but pay a vist first as some are really in bad shape.0
